Through Canada’s Economic Action Plan (EAP), the Government of Canada keeps Canadian citizens informed about Government strategies in place to cope with the recession.
The Invest Canada-Community Initiatives (ICCI) is one of the three components of the Global Commerce Support Program established in December 2008. It is designed to help Canadian communities attract, retain and expand foreign direct investment. ICCI supports non-profit and public-private partnerships at the local community level. The program follows three basic principles:
- Focusing on supporting the attraction, retention, and expansion of foreign direct investment;
- Work through partnerships;
- Sharing costs.
The ONE is a collaborative network of organizations across Ontario, designed to help entrepreneurs, businesses and researchers commercialize their ideas by providing a comprehensive suite of programs and services across the full commercialization continuum from idea to market. These programs are provincially supported and regionally delivered, ensuring that everyone across the province has access to the same high quality resources and expertise.
Ontario’s economy thrives through its unique combination of resources, manufacturing expertise, exports and a drive for innovation. Ontario generates 37% of the national GDP and is home to almost 50% of all employees in high tech, financial services and other knowledge-intensive industries”.
Through its approved five-year Economic Development Strategy and its Economic Development Implementation Plan, the City led the development and implementation of Invest Ottawa. The City is the primary funder of Invest Ottawa and through a multi-year agreement and annual operating plans, it will oversee Invest Ottawa’s execution of its mandate.
The National Research Council-Industrial Research Assistance Program (NRC-IRAP) is Canada’s premier innovation assistance program for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). It is a vital component of the NRC, a cornerstone in Canada’s innovation system, regarded world-wide as one of the best programs of its kind.
