Background
March 8th is International Women’s Day, a global day celebrating women’s social, economic, cultural and political achievements. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity. Each year, groups around the world come together to celebrate the achievements of women and/or rally for women’s equity.
Six years ago, we were inspired by this initiative and motivated to increase our collective impact in Canada’s Capital with partners in our region, across Canada and worldwide. So, we launched International Women’s Week (IWW).

Starting on March 4th, our community will host the Sixth Annual International Women’s Week/Month!

During our second information session, we are excited to announce our first internationally recognized keynote speakers and:
- Re-cap our vision, goals and target outcomes
- Announce our five IWM 2024 Feature Leaders
- Confirm initial events and sponsorship
- Share ways you can contribute and promote this initiative
- Explain how we’ll support and amplify what you’re doing
- Introduce our International Women’s Month (IWM) 2024 community-wide campaign
