[OTTAWA, Jan 27, 2016] After a successful opening this past fall, the Ottawa Tool Library will now be expanding its offering by introducing workshops thanks to a donation made by Invest Ottawa and Onshoring Ventures.
Today, the Ottawa Tool Library will receive two workbenches built by Onshoring Ventures. Kevin Ford, CEO, says: “We want to enable people to learn new skills, enabling them to create new products. Our work benches will find great use in the classes offered by the tool library.”
The work benches are made right here in Ottawa in a Box Beam structure and are built for rigidity and strength, yet, they are light-weight and can easily be stored in an upright position which makes them a valuable addition to the tool library.
With the strong support from the Ottawa community, the tool library membership base has grown to over 280 and an inventory of hand tools, power tools, and kitchen tools totaling more than 1,000. With this donation, it can now address the need for skill learning by offering an array of classes in woodworking, tool operation, and DIY projects.
“The Ottawa Tool Library is exactly the type of innovation and collaboration we work to foster in the business Ecosystem”, says Bruce Lazenby, President and CEO of Invest Ottawa.
The Tool Library’s first workshop will be “Tools 101” on January 30, 2016 at 1 p.m. with only a couple spaces left.
