International Women’s Day: Celebrating Women+ in Screen Based Media

Join the Digi60 Filmmakers’ Festival as we celebrate women and gender diverse creatives with an afternoon of conversation and networking. Taking place at the National Arts Centre, this free bilingual event for women+ and their allies working in screen based media (film, television, broadcast and media) will include discussions on building up Ottawa’s film and media industries through empowering women+ to tell intersectional and diverse stories.

The event starts at 2:00 PM. This event will include a community vision board, where attendees can write their own vision for the future of women in screen based media. One panel will be held in English and facilitated by journalist and media producer Nickie Shobeiry, the second panel will be held in French, facilitated by Digi60’s Director of Equity Initiatives, Maissa Houri, and will include Ottawa’s Film Commissioner, Sandrine Pechels de Saint Sardos.

Co-presented by the National Arts Centre and the ACTRA Ottawa Women’s Council.

Digi60 is committed to creating a safe and inclusive space for all women, as well as and including trans and non-binary, people. All are welcome at this event and no one will be turned away.

Rejoignez le Festival des cinéastes Digi60 alors que nous célébrons les créatives féminine et de genre diversifié avec un après-midi de conversation et de réseautage. Se déroulant au Centre national des Arts, cet événement bilingue est gratuit pour les femmes+ et leurs alliés travaillant dans les médias sur écran (cinéma, télévision, radiodiffusion et médias) et comprendra des discussions sur le développement des industries cinématographiques et médiatiques d’Ottawa en donnant aux femmes+ les moyens de raconter des histoires intersectionnelles et diverses.

L’événement commence à 14h00. Cet événement comprendra un tableau de vision communautaire, où les participants pourront écrire leur propre vision de l’avenir des femmes dans les médias sur écran. Un panneau sera en anglais et animé par la journaliste et productrice de médias Nickie Shobeiry, et le deuxième panneau se tiendra en français, animé par la directrice des initiatives d’équité de Digi60, Maissa Houri, et comprendra la commissaire au cinéma d’Ottawa, Sandrine Pechels de Saint Sardos.
