Ottawa grew considerably because of tech companies over the last few decades. Science fairs are an excellent way to inspire young minds to be the next generation of future tech workers and leaders.
The Ottawa Regional Science Fair started in 1962 and is one of 103 regional science fairs across Canada. Students from across our region can enter to compete with their projects for a chance to win one of 11 all-expenses paid spots representing Ottawa at the weeklong annual Canada Wide Science Fair. The ORSF is a registered charity with no paid staff or contractors and about 140 volunteers – approx. 120 of them judges. The costs to host the annual ORSF and to send our youth to the CWSF are from the generous assistance of our sponsors and donors.
Parents are encouraged to bring their children out during one of the public visitation times, even if they are in elementary school, to stimulate their interest and possible future participation when in grades 7-12. This is an excellent way for young minds to discover their interests and abilities in science, technology, engineering or math. Participation also gives them a boost in their own self confidence, and helps them realize clearer direction for post secondary endeavors.
To learn more about science fairs including the ORSF visit ScienceFairFunding.com and watch some videos.
Also we are looking throughout the year for new sponsors and donors to help grow the ORSF and inquiries can be made through ScienceFairFunding.com, which is run by one of the ORSF and CWSF volunteers.
